Guys and gals, you may be ready to make a baby and have tried several times over the past few months. Keep having fun in the sack! Let’s talk about Stress. Ahhhh Stress. I just triggered an emotional response in you. What is it? Stress is one of the main reasons that keep physically and structurally healthy partners from conceiving.
Whatever response or definition we have regarding the word stress directly affects our fertility and quality of life. Emotional baggage, overwork, fatigue, poor diet are some of the most common sources of stress. We have heard about or seen the couples who adopt a kid, then the next thing they know they’re pregnant! The couple is less stressed about trying because they already have a baby.
How does Chinese medicine address stress? Chinese medicine can help you relax with a combination of herbs and acupuncture treatments. Stress is both an interior and exterior cause of disease in the body. You and your acupuncturist will identify the causes of stress, from an emotional source, such as anger, sadness, joy, worry, fear; or identify an external cause such as poor diet, trauma, overwork, or taxation of the body. Acupuncture relaxes the body by taking the body of out a fight or flight stage, called the sympathetic nervous system, into the parasympathetic nervous system, where it plays an important part in sexual activity. Taking herbs can help you relax by harmonizing your mind and body while you are on your exciting journey toward parenthood!
How does Chinese medicine help you with fertility? Chinese medicine helps to make sure that the baby making parts are working properly and helps to ensure a healthy environment for the embryo to implant. Studies keep showing that the health of both partners is important for the development and growth of the baby in utero. Acupuncture, herbs, and diet can help men improve libido and the motility and quality of sperm production, as well as help women also improve libido, regulate their cycle and body temperature, and build a healthy endometrial lining.
Talk to your primary care physician if pregnancy does not happen after a year of trying. There are various ways to prepare for pregnancy from how both of you care for the physiology and mental aspects of health.
