Make Your Money Work for You!
Did you know acupuncture is considered an eligible expense for reimbursement with a Flexible Spending Account and Health Savings Account. FSAs and HSAs allow consumers to use tax-free money for qualified medical expenses.
Find out if your FSA allows a carry-over option or an extension period to use your funds by March 15. Your plan year deadline may be around the corner. Many FSA account holders will have to spend down their FSA dollars before December 31.
Understand your insurance coverage. Every health insurance policy is different regarding whether it covers our clinic’s services, and if so, the number of treatments covered. As a courtesy we provide you with the necessary paperwork to submit claims to your carrier. To keep our prices low, we do not bill your insurance directly.
As a New York Times article advises, “Even if your insurer will not reimburse you, your flexible spending account might – if you have one. Using flex-spending dollars to pay for treatments can reduce the cost by 20 percent or so, depending on your tax bracket. Look on your employer’s list of approved expenses to see whether acupuncture is included.”
Acupuncture is often not covered by regular health insurance plans, so if you’re curious about this type of treatment or want to schedule your next appointment, take advantage of your FSA or HSA.
